A judge has dismissed hip-hop superstar Drake from multiple lawsuits over the tragedy at the Astroworld festival in November 2021 that resulted in the deaths of ten people and left several hundreds injured.

State District Judge Kristen Hawkins dismissed Drake from the case in a brief order. The judge also dismissed Epic Records, concert promoter ScoreMore and a few other entities from the litigation but refused to dismiss Travis Scott, Apple Inc., and Live Nation Entertainment from the lawsuits.

The suits pertain to the incident that took place at the of the Astroworld festival in Houston on November 5, 2021, at which Drake was a special guest of Travis Scott, the headliner at the festival.

Following a crowd surge that resulted in severe casualties, the affected families sued Drake, Scott and Live Nation as well as several other individuals and entities.

Drake’s lawyers argued during a court hearing in Houston earlier this month that he was not involved in putting the concert together and was subsequently not liable for the deaths and injuries that occurred.

They argued that Drake (Aubrey Drake Graham) was unaware of any safety issues prior to performing at the show.

“Mr. Graham did not receive any security briefings, was not informed of any crowd control issues, injuries or deaths in the crowd, or any stop show orders at any time either before or during his 14-minute performance,” his attorney stated.
