Breaking The SSickle Cel Cycle Foundation will host Just Fore Dad Sickle Cell Golf Tournament fundraiser. Join us for an afternoon of family, fun and a little friendly competition. All to help support the foundation and its’ sickle cell awareness activites provided to the Nashville community.
Sickle cell disease (SCD), also called sickle cell anemia, is a painful inherited blood disorder affects all ethnicities because of its connection with malaria and its geographical origins. People who are born with the disease have c-shaped red blood cells, that are hard, rigid, sticky and die early (anemia). These cells stick together and form clots which can cause severe pain, strokes, organ damage, and even death.
Because the disease runs in families, it is important for BOTH MEN and WOMEN to know their respective sickle cell trait status before they have children. Raising SCD awareness is so important because millions of people carry the gene and many don’t know it. We would love to have your support and join us in breaking the cycle of sickle cell disease.
