MNPD officer exonerated after being accused of aggravated assault

A Metro police officer is expected to be back on the job after she was cleared of any charges following an allegation of aggravated assault. Officer Myriah Iles was decommissioned in October after she was alleged to have gotten into a fight, knocking out another woman. An investigation revealed Iles was defending herself after she was confronted by a group of people who saw Iles carrying her friend over her shoulder. The investigation showed Iles committed no crime or violation of MNPD policy.


U.S. & Canadian Officials Now Believe Boeing Plane Involved in Fatal Crash Was Shot Down by Iranian Missile

  • U.S. and Canadian officials now believe an Iranian missile caused the fatal crash of a Boeing 737 on Wednesday–not engine failure.
  • “The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.
  • This news might come as a relief to Boeing, which is struggling to get its 737 MAX jets off the ground after two fatal crashes that resulted from mechanical shortcomings.
  • Wednesday’s crash involved a Ukraine-bound plane, and killed all 176 people aboard–including 63 Canadians.

Men face additional charges in Hendersonville officer’s death

The two men involved in the police chase that led to the death of Hendersonville Officer Spencer Bristol have been charged in Davidson County. Kevin Jordan and Emani Martin, both 19, were booked into the Metro Jail on reckless homicide charges for the death of Officer Bristol yesterday. The chase began in Hendersonville but continued into Davidson County. Jordan was quickly arrested, but Officer Bristol was hit and killed while crossing Interstate 65 to chase Martin.


Former detention center employee charged in connection to escape

Former Juvenile Justice Center employee 28-year-old Tierra Foxx was charged in connection to the escape of four teens. Foxx surrendered to officer yesterday and was charged with facilitating, by recklessness in the November 30 escape. She is the third former staff member to be charged.


APPEAL TO BUILD WALL OVERTURNED

A federal appeals court in New Orleans gave President Trump some good news yesterday, ruling that his administration can use $3.6 billion in military funds to build a wall along the southern border. The ruling comes a month after Trump’s plan was blocked by a federal judge in El Paso. In that ruling, a judge ruled that the administration’s declaration of a national emergency on the border in order to use military funds for a wall was unlawful.
