MNPS teacher placed on leave for homework about the n-word

An English teacher with Metro Nashville Public Schools has been placed on leave pending a disciplinary review for  homework in question  assigned to 30 students at Cane Ridge High School in Antioch.  The assignment was for them to write a one-page paper on the derogatory term “n-word”. Since the incident, a student started an online petition showing support for the teacher. So far it has garnered more than 800 virtual signatures. The student said the teacher is “being persecuted for trying to prepare us for the real world by gifting us with the ability to think critically.”


2 Jeffrey Epstein Prison Guards Indicted for Falsifying Records

  • Two prison guards were indicted Tuesday for falsifying records at the New York City jail where Jeffrey Epstein killed himself.
  • The indictment claims they “sat at their desk, browsed the internet and moved around the common area” instead of checking on Epstein.
  • They then signed “count sheets” saying they had checked on him and other inmates multiple times even though they had not.
  • Both have since been released on $100,000 bail.

Man arrested in 2018 hotel shooting death

24 year old Robert Goodner has been indicted for murder after a man was shot inside his pickup truck at a Nashville hotel in 2018. Goodner was arrested Tuesday at a motel on Brick Church Pike by Metro Gang Unit detectives. Goodner was wanted in the shooting death of 50-year-old Robert Harper in February 2018. According to police, robbery is believed to be the motive behind the shooting.


Father accused of leaving 3-year-old in hot car now charged with murder

In July, Smyrna police officers found 3 year old Daylin Palmer unresponsive inside a hot car in the 700 block of Windbirch Trail. The father, 23 year old Dylan Levesque has now been charged with first-degree murder. Officers believe the child died from heat exposure after being left in the car for possibly two hours. Levesque is charged with first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and neglect. He is set to appear in court for an arraignment on November 25.


12 YEAR OLD GIRL COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER BEING BULLIED

A vigil was held outside John F. Kennedy Middle School Tuesday night in memory of 12 year old Tarhiya Sledge, who committed suicide over the weekend.. A community is hoping to fight bullying by telling her story. Family and friends said Tarhiya was struggling with bullies at John F. Kennedy Middle when her parents pulled her from the school. Her mother, Michelle Glover, had posted on Facebook back on October 28th regarding various situations at the school saying she was at the school at least once a week, and the school was aware of the incidents, yet did nothing. She said, and I quote, “One can only take so much before I allow my child to try to commit suicide. I’ve made the best decision in the meantime, to home school her’ Funeral arrangements have not been finalized as of yet.
