A Black woman out of Texas made $1.2 million dollars at the Kentucky Derby after betting $18!

Margaret Reid was floored as she watched her pick 5 predictions come out on top in every race including the main event whose winner was Justify, according to Essence. A “Pick 5” is when you place a bet on 5 races and make a prediction for the winner of each race in a row.

“It was an amazing feeling…that you won really big, like a really big ticket,” she expressed to CBS San Antonio. Reid has gone to the Kentucky Derby for years and explained that she carefully made her choices and almost made as much money as the winner Justify who won $1.24 million.

According to Rachel Bagnetto a spokesman for the event explained that the chances of this happening are very rare. “It’s extremely rare. To bet that little amount of money and win $1.2 million is unheard of. In fact, it’s the first time it’s happened at Retama.”

Reid plans on using the money for an vacation and then investing the rest, according to Page Six“I’ll invest some of it, obviously,” she said. “I have a young daughter that’s going to be going to college in three years, so some of it will go there.”
