DIDDY CLARIFIES PUBLISHING RIGHTS

Diddy’s blockbuster announcement about giving back publishing to Bad Boy artists and writers has been in the works.

On Labor Day, Sean “Diddy” Combs revealed the move to pay back people who worked on music under the Bad Boy imprint.

Variety spoke with Diddy to get more information.

He said, “I’ll tell you one thing that I do want people to know. This was done, like, two years ago. Everything just got taken care of now. It’s not a publicity stunt or anything like that.”

Diddy added, “It’s just doing the right thing. I think that we as an industry, and as a people, have to look in the mirror and make a shift forward. It’s about evolving, leading by example and reforming an industry that needs it, in a world that needs reform.”
