Travis Scott Dropped from 2022 Coachella Festival Lineup Amid Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott suffers yet another fallout amid his “Astroworld Festival” tragedy that left ten dead and hundreds more injured.
According to an initial report from radio station KESQ in Palm Springs, Fl, the “Sicko Mode” rapper has been removed from his headlining spot at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The station reported that the news was confirmed by the city of Indio, Calif., where the annual festival is held, and the Community Services Manager Jim Curtis. However, a spokesperson for the town later told The Palm Springs Desert Sun it could not confirm whether Scott had been removed from Coachella’s 2022 lineup.
Variety later reported that the 8-time Grammy-nominated artist had been “effectively removed” from the show. They claimed Scott’s agent Cara Lewis was aware that it had intended to remove the rapper and would pay a cancellation fee.
Last November, an online petition was created through Change.org calling on Coachella organizers, Goldenvoice and Paul Tollett to remove the 30-year-old from their future festival following the devastating events that took place in his hometown of Houston Tx.
The description on the petition stated that “With the recent tragic and unnecessary death at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life, we ask AEG, Paul Tollet, and Goldenvoice to remove his as a performer at all of their festivals.”
As of Sunday (Dec. 12), the request had garnered over 60,000 signatures.
The “Highest In The Room” musician had initially announced he would be performing at the festival in January 2020. However, that show was postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The last time Scott touched the California-based stage was in 2017. The upcoming musical festival is scheduled to take place during the weekends of April 15-17 and again from April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Ca.
The news comes on the heels of another business venture fallout. On Friday (Dec.10), Anheuser-Busch discontinued the “Goosebumps” rapper’s hard seltzer brand, Cacti. In a statement to CNN Business, a spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch stated that “after careful evaluation, we have decided to stop all production and brand development of CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer. We believe brand fans will understand and respect this decision.” Scott announced the beverage partnership for the agave-spiked seltzer in December 2020.
The rapper nor his team have released a statement regarding his reported removal from the Coachella lineup.
