It was recently reported that Reebok is for sale, and Master P has emerged as an interested buyer, along with Baron Davis as his partner.
Adidas acquired Reebok in 2006 for $3.8 billion in 2006, and the brand has been in decline for the past few years. Master P told Yahoo! Finance that he thinks Reebok can “definitely can be revamped,” and he also revealed that he invited Shaq to “have a seat at the table.” In recent years, Shaq has seen success in Papa John’s since investing in the company and having a board seat.
One of Master P’s plans for revamping Reebok is to make Allen Iverson the face of the company, much like Jordan is with Nike. Iverson, who retired from the NBA in 2013, has had a signature shoe deal with Reebok since 1996. He explained, “The way we look at Michael Jordan for Nike we look at Allen Iverson that way in Reebok. We need to bring him to the forefront. We need to bring in better designers. We also need to make this for the millennials. And I think that that would be a game changer.”
