Off-duty La Vergne officer injured in crash

An off-duty La Vergne police officer was injured Tuesday morning in a crash. Officer Felicia Altheide was in her personal vehicle with her son driving on Murfreesboro Road when her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer. The crash caused her car to run under the trailer. Her son was not hurt. Altheide was taken to the hospital with a head injury.


Man arrested after Madison road rage shooting

A man remains in the Davidson County Jail after police arrested him for allegedly firing a gun during a road rage incident. In the affidavit for Dennis Lee, The victim told police it started on Ellington Parkway as he was getting off at the exit for Briarville Road. David Lee pulled up beside the victim, followed him and fired one bullet. It is unknown what caused Lee’s reaction. He’s facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Any of his prior arrests were drivers license-related issues.


Andrew Yang suspends 2020 presidential campaign

Democrat Andrew Yang, an entrepreneur who created buzz by saying that hewould give every American adult $1,000 per month, suspended his 2020 bid on Tuesday.

In other news, Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic primary last night. The victory puts the senator from Vermont in a good position to win the Democratic nomination for president. He was followed by runne-up, Pete Buttigieg.


Two arrested on multiple charges after Sumner County pursuit

Two people were arrested on various charges after fleeing during a traffic stop and leading multiple agencies on a pursuit through Sumner County. The driver,  identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Staten, initially stopped and then fled while the officer was trying to speak to him. Rutherford County coach indicted for stealing money raised by middle school students

Ryan Trotter, a football and golf coach admitted to stealing over $8,000 that he collected from students and fundraisers between July 2017 and October 2018. According to the Comptroller’s Office, Trotter failed to turn over money to Rock Springs Middle School officials and kept the money for his personal benefit. This included players fees, a football fundraiser and golf player fees. Trotter resigned from Rutherford County Schools on November 30, 2018. He was indicted by a Rutherford County Grand Jury on one count of theft over $2,500.
