MAN ARRESTED FOR AIDING TEEN ESCAPE
21-year-old Majok Chol was arrested as he was leaving a Thompson Lane barbershop Tuesday afternoon. Chol was charged with helping Brandon Caruthers while he was on escape status from the Juvenile Detention Facility in downtown Nashville. They say he arranged for Caruthers to stay at an apartment on Arbor Crest Boulevard in Antioch, where Caruthers was arrested. Chol was also carrying a gun when he was arrested.
WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN CAR IN MURFREESBORO
Firefighters found a deceased woman in a vehicle in a grocery story parking lot. It happened Monday afternoon in the 2200 block of Veterans Parkway in the parking lot of Kroger. Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department noticed an unresponsive woman in a silver jeep with the seat laid back. The victim is 28-year-old Brittney Rigsby and there were no signs of foul play. Police are investigating and are waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
Iran Strikes Back at U.S. With 2 Missile Attacks: Trump To Address Nation Wednesday
- Iran retaliated against the U.S. on Tuesday for the killing of a top Iranian general last week, firing more than 12 ballistic missiles at two Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops.
- The Ain al-Asad air base in western Iraq was hit by at least six missiles about midnight local time.
- The second base targeted was in Irbil in Iraq’s semiautonomous Kurdish region.
- There were no immediate reports of casualties from the attacks.
- Iran says that strikes were in retaliation for the U.S. killing of General Qassem Soleimani last week.
- Iran warned the U.S. not to retaliate, saying any Mideast base that does will itself be targeted.
- President Trump tweeted All is well!”after the attacks, and is expected to address the nation Wednesday.
FOUR ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY/SCHOOL LOCKDOWN LIFTED
Metro Police were searching for reported armed robbery suspects in the area of Interstate 40 and Old Hickory Blvd. near Gower Elementary School. Four suspects have been taken into custody, for the armed robbery that was the start of this incident. Yesterday, Gower Elementary was placed on precautionary lockdown. Police say a second suspect was never located.
NC WOMAN KILLS FAMILY
A Greensboro, North Carolina, woman, 28, appeared in court Thursday, accused of a triple homicide that occurred on New Year’s Day. Brittany McKinney admitted to shooting and killing her 10-year-old daughter Mkenzie, 2-year-old niece Serenity, and 61-year-old Jerry Griffin, who was living in the home. McKinney was on the telephone with her sister when she admitted to the shootings, causing her sister to request a welfare check. She could face the death penalty and is currently being held without bond.
