Community Activists call for body cameras for Metro Police

After three years of delays, frustrated community activists ramp up their push to ensure Metro police officers will have body cameras. Members of five community organizations held a protest outside of Mayor John Cooper’s office last night, speaking out to make sure that the issue of Metro police officers will have body cameras, isn’t forgoten..John Cooper said The Mayor’s Office is working expeditiously with the DA, Metro police, and other criminal justice agencies to finalize a strategy for resolving these issues.


Yesterday Sen. Kamala Harris informed her staff that  is dropping her presidential bid. Harris says that she had made the decision because of financial struggles experienced by the campaign. Harris’ team had been upfront about its financial issues and had cut staff in New Hampshire in order to double down Iowa, on the caucus state.

Nashville Realtor charged with attacking husband with scissors, he locked himself in car until police arrived, for his own safety.

39-year-old Nashville realtor Tawntane Yates is free on a $10,000 bond after her husband had to lock himself in a car in their driveway to stay safe until police arrived. It happened on Blairfield Drive in Antioch. They found Ronnie Yates locked in his car and he told officers he locked himself in the car to protect himself from his wife,who had tried to attack him with scissors and had captured some of the assault on video. Tawntane Yates was charged with felony aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon.

Man Impersonates off duty TSU police officer

A man impersonating a Tennessee State University police officer while working at Walmart has been arrested. Seth Mills was fighting a suspected shoplifter at Walmart when he stated he was an off duty TSU police officer working as a paid police officer. Mills was wearing full police gear as well as carrying a sidearm. A sergeant with the South Precinct called TSU Police Commander Jackson, who said that Mills does not have any police authority and is not employed by the TSU Police Department.


Metro police said Decorrius Wright and Calvin Howse have been arrested by the Juvenile Crime Task Force in Madison. They were arrested outdoors in the Robin Hood Condo Complex on Forrest Park Drive after information led them to the area. Detectives said work is continuing to locate the other two escapees, Morris Marsh and Brandon Caruthers. Davidson County Juvenile Court released a statement after the capture:
