The House to Hold Vote on Trump Impeachment Inquiry; White House Official to Testify

  • The House will hold a vote Thursday on whether to formalize the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.
  • Rules chair Jim McGovern said the resolution would “provide a clear path forward” for the inquiry.
  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that although this vote was not legally necessary, they’d vote “to eliminate any doubt” about the proceeding.
  • Republicans have criticized the inquiry as unfair and lacking due process.
  • Current White House official Alexander Vindman will testify in the inquiry Tuesday.
  • Vindman works at the National Security Council and listened to the Trump call that set off the inquiry.
  • The military officer will testify that he “was concerned by the call.” 

16 men arrested in TBI human trafficking sting, seeking sex from minors

Sixteen men were caught by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations during a two-day human trafficking sting in Rutherford County. TBI set up decoy advertisements on websites, looking to identify people whowanted to engage in “commercial sex acts” with minors. Their ages range from 20 to 55 years old. If you see someone who you suspect is a victim of human trafficking, call the Tennessee Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-855-558-6484.


Man shot, killed on Austin Peay State University campus; two arrested

A man was shot and killed outside an Austin Peay State University residence hall late Sunday night. The victim, 22-year-old Serdarin Brown, was not affiliated with the university, but died as a result of a drug deal gone wrong. A man, later identified as Joshua Watkins and 17-year-old were detained without incident and charged with criminal homicide.


New sheriff’s headquarters $17M over budget

A new Davidson County Sheriff’s Office headquarters is under construction, but it’s already costing double the amount it was expected. The construction site on South Fifth Street in East Nashville will be the new home of the Sheriff’s Office. According to Mayor John Cooper, “The project was originally going to cost $40 million. But you’re $17 million short on a project that is under construction now. The sheriff’s headquarters project was approved in 2016 during Mayor Megan Barry’s administration. Cooper expecting more accurate answers where the money will come from before construction projects get the green light. Why did construction start without the project being fully funded? News4 did not receive an answer prior to deadline.


Police looking for North Nashville murder suspect

Metro police are looking for 28-year-old Lakeisha Ann Congo. Police have put out a criminal homicide warrant against Congo for the weekend shooting death of a 47-year-old female acquaintance at the Days Inn at 1400 Brick Church Pike. Thus far, police say that the shooting took place as the result of a dispute between the two women. If you know anything about this case, please call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.  Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
