According to Entertainment Weekly, the project, titled Whitney, is reportedly the “only film officially supported by the late singer’s estate.” The documentary will supposedly include never-before-seen home movie footage, unreleased recordings and videos of live performances. It’ll also give fans an unvarnished look at Houston’s personal life.
A documentary portraying the life and legacy of Whitney Houston is coming soon thanks to award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald.
“I approached Whitney’s life like a mystery story; why did someone with so much raw talent and beauty self-destruct so publicly and painfully? I was lucky enough to have the support of Pat Houston and the Whitney Houston estate in this quest,” Macdonald said in a statement. “They entrusted me with the ‘keys to the vault’ while giving me complete freedom to follow the story wherever it went.
Miramax and Roadside Attractions are slated to release Whitney to theaters in the United States and United Kingdom on July 6.
