The African American community in Nashville show pride, share love, and come together at new event!

Activist, Playwright, and Actor Shawn Whitsell has brought the African Community together once again with the new event Dashikis & Daiquiris.  Unsure at how the community would respond, this event has been supported by many artists, activists, friends, and family each time and it’s catching a buzz city wide!  Dashikis & Daiquiris was created in order to bring like minded individuals together at such a serious time in our culture.  Shawn Whitsell and fellow actors in the Nashville area came together during this years Shades Of Black Theatre Festival to give the community and opportunity to bond, share positive energy, and show pride in their culture.

The formula is simple, everyone is encouraged to “Put On Your Dopest DASHIKI” and meet for DAIQUIRIS, beverages, food, entertainment, art and mingling. And the event is FREE!!! It’s such a beautiful thing to see so many people of color celebrate their culture and build each other up during a time that we need it most. Check out pics from the recent one!!
