Can’t hold a good woman down. While Mary J. Blige’s personal life may be a little shaken right now, she’s not going to let it keep her from moving on and making this money. The veteran songstress is going to be joining one of the hottest shows on television for its third season.

Blige is set to guest star on “How To Get Away With Murder”

According to Deadline, there a very few details about Blige’s upcoming role. But in an earlier interview with Deadline, Viola Davis said that there was going to be a new mystery presented on the very first episode of season 3. And it’s going to be presented quickly, probably with staple fast-talking that leaves us scratching our heads that have become a Shondaland staple.

This is not the only acting project that Blige has in the pipeline. She’s also going to star in the Dee-Rees directed film Mudbound. And you know we watched her as Evilene in “The Wiz Live!” The role earned her a Critics’ Choice TV Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie Made For Television. She also appeared in “black-ish.”

Blige is represented by Queen Latifah’s longtime partner, Shakim Compere.

And in other acting news, Phylicia Rashad will be joining the lengthy lists of celebrities who have appeared on Fox’s “Empire.”

According to Variety, Rashad will play Diana Dubois, a powerful woman from New York’s oldest and wealthiest African American families. Rashad’s son, played by Taye Diggs has ambitions to advance in politics and his mother will do anything to make that dream a reality.

Variety writes that “Her interactions with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious (Terrence Howard) and the rest of the Lyon clan will lay bare the stark class divides that can exist, even within the Black community.”

Basically, old money vs. new money.

Rashad will join Mariah Carey, French Montana and Birdman who are all reportedly set to join the show.

Season 3 of “How To Get Away With Murder” will air on September 22 on ABC and “Empire” will return on September 21 on Fox.
