He’s a baby!!! (well, I’m only 5 years older) but still, after hearing Jidenna speak about social issues and his choice of style I would have totally thought he was my age or older! I guess him being absolutely beautiful kinda made me want him to be in my age bracket as well. Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, just look at how distinguished the brothers name is. Being of Nigerian descent, his name in Igbo language means to “embrace the father”. Pretty dope huh! Some may wonder why the talented artist Janelle Monae shows up in his videos. Well, Jidenna is actually signed to Janelle’s Wondaland records label along with other extremely talented artists such as Roman GianArthur who is a feature on Jidenna’s current well rotated single “Classic Man”.
I must say that I was a tab bit surprised not to see Andre 3000 as one of his musical influences. Some argue that 3 stacks has BEEN on the “classic man” style waaaay before Jidenna, but it still doesnt take away from Jidenna’s dopeness. I feel that more artist like him are necessary in music. Lord knows we need more real men to influence our youth these days. I was also just as surprised to find out that 2 of his major influences happen to be KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane, pretty dope if you ask me. Let’s keep our eyes on this cat, I have a feeling that we’ll be very happy with what he puts out in the future artistically and visually *wink wink*
