Blog Post: Drug Smugglers Use Cannon To Fire Weed over the Border

While drug smugglers are infamous for finding new ways to get their product over the U.S. border from Mexico, authorities say the criminals really brought out the big guns recently: a cannon. According to NBC News San Diego, Customs and Border Protection officials announced on Tuesday the discovery of nearly 43 thousand dollars worth of marijuana that had apparently been launched over the border in cans via an air cannon.

More than 30 cans of weed were discovered, authorities say, apparently launched from more than 500 feet away from a cannon powered by an air canister, which was discovered at the launch site. The pot was found by the authorities before the smugglers could recover it.
