A new eight-part docuseries will examine the life and influence of Joe Jackson, the father and former manager behind one of music’s most famous families.
The project, titled The Manager, The Mythology, The Legend, was announced as a broader look at Jackson’s personal history, ambitions, and role in shaping the early careers of his children. Marlon Jackson will narrate the series and contribute to its development, bringing a family perspective to the story.
Joe Jackson played a central role in guiding the Jackson 5 from Gary, Indiana, to international success. His management helped launch a group that became a major force in popular music and opened the door to several successful solo careers.
The series will also address the more difficult parts of his legacy. Over the years, family members spoke publicly about his strict parenting style and allegations of abuse. The docuseries is expected to place those accounts alongside his professional influence and the discipline he brought to the group’s rise.
