Tyler Perry’s attempt to support TSA workers during the government shutdown has hit an unexpected roadblock.
The filmmaker initially tried to give cash to employees at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport but was told federal rules prohibit workers from accepting direct gifts. His team then returned with $1,000 gift cards for TSA employees.
However, workers were later instructed to return the gift cards after concerns were raised by federal officials, even after the distribution had reportedly been cleared through internal channels.
The situation has created added stress for some employees, especially those who had already used portions of the funds, after working for weeks without pay during the shutdown.
