Chris Brown is requesting a Los Angeles judge to prevent any references to his past domestic violence case with Rihanna from being mentioned during an upcoming civil trial regarding an incident involving his dog.
The case involves sisters Patricia and Maria Avila, former housekeepers at Brown’s home, with Maria alleging she suffered permanent injuries after being attacked by Brown’s dog, Hades, in December 2020, and is seeking over $90 million in damages.
Brown’s legal team argues that referencing his prior incident with Rihanna, where he was convicted for assault, would bias the jury and distract from the case, asserting it is irrelevant and highly prejudicial to the current lawsuit.
Brown maintains he was not negligent in the dog incident and claims Maria provoked the animal, thus denying all allegations of wrongdoing related to the dog attack.
The trial is expected to proceed later this year.
