Jay-Z’s plan to bring a casino to the Big Apple has gone bust.
In recent months, Hov has been trying to throw his weight around in hopes of getting a green light for a new casino in Times Square. Unfortunately for Mr. Carter, the state-commissioned community advisory committee rejected Roc Nation’s $5.4 billion bid to transform a Times Square office tower into a Caesars hotel, gambling, and entertainment complex.
Developer and property owner Marc Holliday blasted the decision to block the bid by saying, “This was a despicable display of cowardice, a complete lack of consideration for all the people who would benefit from this. Go run and hide.”
The Reverend Al Sharpton said of the denial, “We will remember that in the community.”
Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez says, “Thank you to Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams for standing up for NYC. Unfortunately, not every politician has the courage and foresight to do what’s right for their constituents.”
