Michael Jackson’s long-awaited biopic is proving to be a box office force.
“Michael” has officially crossed $900 million at the global box office, making the Lionsgate film the studio’s highest-grossing movie ever. The biopic, starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, has earned $355.2 million domestically and more than $544.8 million internationally.
The film is now just $11 million away from surpassing “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which earned $911 million worldwide. If “Michael” passes that milestone, it will become the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time.
The movie has seen major success overseas, with top markets including the United Kingdom at $68 million, France at $54.3 million, Germany at $34.4 million, Brazil at $32.2 million, and Mexico at $31.4 million.
With another international rollout approaching, Michael could soon be moonwalking toward the $1 billion mark.
