Lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combs sent a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix regarding a new docuseries produced by 50 Cent.
The docuseries premiered on Tuesday and shows never-before-seen footage of Combs during his federal trial this summer.
Diddy’s team claims the series is unfair and illegal, stating that no rights in the footage were ever transferred to Netflix.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos was aware that Diddy had been filming himself since the age of 19 “to tell his own story.”
50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton obtained the footage legally, but Diddy’s team believes it is being misappropriated and taken out of context.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence for two counts of transporting people for prostitution.
