Tyler Perry donated $1.4 million to organizations providing meals and essential supplies to those affected by the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
Beneficiaries include the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Baby2Baby, Meals on Wheels Atlanta, Caring for Others, All for Lunch, Ron Clark Academy, and Goodr. “If you’ve never been poor, you may not understand the life-changing impact of SNAP benefits. Compassion is not political—it’s humanity,” Perry told People.
As the shutdown stretches into its seventh week, Perry’s action highlights how artists and private citizens are filling urgent gaps left by halted federal aid during the federal government shutdown.
