Grammy winner Toni Braxton is set to headline two upcoming movies for Lifetime as part of her multi-picture deal with the network.
Inspired by her 2000 hit song of the same name, Braxton will star alongside Essence Atkins (First Wives Club) and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) in He Wasn’t Man Enough. The film is set to premiere November 22 at 8/7c as part of the network’s Love of a Lifetime November romance movie slate.
In it, Braxton plays bestselling author Mel Montgomery, whose world unravels when she discovers her boyfriend Richard (Thomas Cadrot, The Night Agent) has been deceiving her. When Mel learns Richard is now engaged to her estranged college friend Monica (Atkins), the two women, with the help of Mel’s loyal best friend Candy (Brown), set aside old wounds to stand together. What begins as betrayal becomes a story of resilience and solidarity—proving Richard picked the wrong trio to mess with. Because in the end, it was never about the man who failed them, but the women who chose each other.
