2ND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MURDER OF HENDERSONVILLE POLICE OFFICER

A second man has been arrested after a Hendersonville police officer was killed in the line of duty after being struck by a vehicle during a foot pursuit across Interstate 65. 19 year old Emani C. Martin Jr. was arrested by Metro police at a home on Clifton Avenue. He was booked into the Sumner County Jail on Tuesday afternoon. Martin was the second teen arrested after a pursuit turned deadly on a Nashville interstate Monday evening. Master Patrol Officer Spencer Bristol, 31, died Monday evening.


MAN INJURED AFTER ROBBERY

A man suffered serious injuries after he was reportedly shot during an attempted robbery Sunday night in South Nashville. Police responded  to Welshwood Drive where they located the shooting victim. The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The investigation is ongoing.


SMYRNA POLICE LOOKING FOR MAN

The Smyrna Police Department is asking for help identifying a man after he punched a woman in the face for confronting him about a handicap parking space. The assault took place at the Parkway Wine & Spirits on Christmas Eve. Police say the suspect is in his early 20s and was driving a silver Volvo S60. He is described as possibly being of Middle Eastern descent. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Stephen Hannah at 615-267-5146.


S.O.S POSTPONES TRIP TO UKRAINE

In the wake of the protests at the American embassy in Baghdad, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has opted to postpone his scheduled upcoming trip to Ukraine and some other countries, a State Department spokesperson announced on Wednesday. According to a statement, Pompeo will “continue monitoring the ongoing situation in Iraq and ensure the safety and security of Americans in the Middle East.” Earlier this week, protesters stormed the American embassy in Iraq and set fire to a reception area before U.S. forces pushed them back with tear gas.


MAN KILLED ON ROSA PARKS EXIT IDENTIFIED

A man was killed in a shooting late on New Year’s Eve off I-65 near the exit ramp from the southbound lanes to the Rosa L Parks exit just before midnight. A 911 caller reported that someone was dead inside the car. Officers said they arrived to find 18-year-old Marchellos Devens with multiple gunshot wounds. Devens was transported to the hospital where he died. Several men reportedly got out of the Altima before police arrived and were picked up by a second car. The motive for the shooting is unclear and the investigation is ongoing.
