Last night the biggest stars in television and film walked the red carpet dressed in black pushing the message that time is up. Stars posted their best symbolic black wear on social media with the #TimeIsUp and #WhyWeWearBlack to symbolize the moving force of women speaking their truth on sexual harassment in the entertainment industry . The movement all started with #MeToo representing the many women who have too been sexually advanced in the workplace. More stars have come forward with their story as some of the most famous men in the feild have been outed and Oprah made it clear at the Golden Globes that a new era was to come. Last night, Oprah became the first black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award and used her acceptance speech as a platform for the plethora of women who have been harassed or abused by ruthless men saying, “Their time is up!” She spoke for the unspoken hearts such as Recy Taylor and Rosa Parks’ declaring, “It was somewhere in Rosa Parks’ heart almost 11 years later she made the decision to stay seated on that bus in Montgomery. And it’s here with every woman who chooses to say, ‘Me Too’ and every man, every man who chooses to listen.” The OWN founder received an overwhelming applause as she closed her speech with, “A new day was on the horizon…when nobody ever has to say ‘me too’ again.”
