More than 60,000 people have registered for disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency after widespread flooding hit the state, according to Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards’ office…

The Red Cross of Tennessee has sent 20 volunteers to Louisiana to help with relief efforts.

News 2 spoke with Scott Toncray, a volunteer now stationed in Baton Rouge, to explain how to help survivors in Louisiana.

One way to donate $10 to the effort is to text “LAFLOODS” to 90999.

Toncray also said those who want to help can call 1-800-733-2767.

If you’re unable to travel, Lincoln College in Nashville is collecting items, including bottled water, toiletries and blankets for the victims.

Donations can be dropped off at the campus, located at 1524 Gallatin Ave. by Monday Aug. 22.
