Metro resource officer decommissioned, accused of selling alcohol mix to school staff

Officer Candace Steen was decommissioned after being   accused of selling a concoction of alcohol mixed with other ingredients to school staff while on duty at West End Middle School. Steen is now assigned to a desk job at the North Precinct. Metro’s Office of Professional Accountability is conducting the investigation.


17 guns stolen in vehicle burglaries throughout last week

According to Nashville police. 17 guns were stolen in vehicle burglaries last week and 47 vehicles were actually stolen. Many were easy targets because either the keys were left inside or were left unlocked. The review made by Metro police of vehicle burglaries took place between March 31 and April 6. “Park Smart” is an ongoing campaign from police strongly urging drivers to lock their vehicle’s doors, remove the keys and secure any valuables inside, when leaving your vehicle. 


Julian Assange Arrested at London’s Ecuadorian Embassy, Charged With Conspiracy in U.S.

  • Julian Assange was arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London yesterday.
  • He’s expected to be extradited to the U.S., where he faces one charge of conspiracy to hack a computer.

TSU’s Abercrombie to announce Titans NFL Draft pick

The Tennessee Titans said Thursday TSU football player Christion Abercrombie will announce the Titan’s 5th Round draft pick during the NFL Draft. Abercrombie underwent two brain surgeries as a result of his injuries from the Sept 29th game against Vanderbilt. Picks in the 5th Round will be announced April 27. Mayor Briley is closing offices early during the NFL Draft weekend and urges downtown companies to consider similar options. Metro is closing all offices and departments starting at 3 p.m. on April 25.
