Teacher vacancies plague Metro Schools amidst placement on priority list

Parents are really concerned there are not enough teachers to fix that Metro Schools won’t be able to turn things around after the State gave several schools a failing grade. Several teachers have taken on extra students and responsibilities to fill in the gap. Metro has nearly 150 teacher openings in the middle of a tough time for the school system. Some of those openings are at schools the state recently deemed as failing and placed on their priority list. The parent council will hold a special meeting next week to discuss how they plan to address school administrators about the problem. Multiple vacancies and 21 Metro schools now on the state’s priority doesn’t help that the operating budget is $13 million short. With this being said it means less money for supplies and teachers

“The people living in the city feels that Nashville need to fund our schools at the same rate at which they fund their pet projects like the Music City Convention Center or the MLS Stadium that’s opening up right down the street here.
